Move from uniform selection to sign-off faster.
Keep product credentials, policies and impact information ready, so procurement paperwork doesn’t hold up your next uniform contract once designs are agreed.
The challenge
Agreeing on the uniform is only part of winning the contract.
Samples, colours, sizing and branding already take time to get right. Alongside those decisions, larger customers need evidence that your business and garments meet their purchasing requirements.
That means answering questions about where garments are made, how suppliers operate and whether products meet the required safety and sustainability criteria.
One uniform range. Several teams to satisfy.
The brand team approves the look. Wearers need comfort and fit. Safety teams assess protective garments. Procurement checks your business and supply chain.
You need the right information ready for each review, even when it comes from different manufacturers and suppliers.
What larger buyers ask for
Requirements vary by customer, contract and garment. Corporate uniforms and protective workwear won’t need the same evidence.

Responsible sourcing and Modern Slavery
Buyers may request supplier questionnaires, manufacturing locations, sourcing policies and evidence of how you assess and address supply-chain risks. These requests can reach smaller distributors even when they don’t have their own Modern Slavery reporting obligation.
Government environmental procurement requirements
Covered Australian Government textile procurements valued at $1 million or more require a Supplier Environmental Sustainability Plan and contract reporting. Suppliers need evidence of the environmental commitments made in their bids.
Local and ethical manufacturing requirements
Some government buyers have additional sourcing rules. Victorian Government uniform procurement, for example, prioritises locally and ethically manufactured garments wherever possible, with an Ethical Supplier Register for relevant purchases.
Safety and garment performance
Protective workwear needs evidence relevant to its intended use. High-visibility garments, for example, may be specified against AS 4602.1:2024. The applicable standards depend on the garment and buyer’s requirements.
Carbon and material information
Customers assessing their purchased-goods emissions may request product footprints and supporting material information. Supplier-specific data can support Scope 3 calculations; a product footprint is not automatically required for every uniform purchase.
The work sits between your customer and your suppliers.
A range brings together multiple suppliers.
Shirts, trousers, jackets and protective garments can each come with different specifications, certificates and sourcing information. You have to bring it together for the customer.
The evidence needs to match the final selection.
When the garment, fabric or supplier changes, the supporting information needs checking too. Documents collected for the original proposal may no longer cover what you’re supplying.
The requests continue after the first order.
Contract reporting, replacement products and updated documents create ongoing work. Under covered government contracts, environmental reporting also continues throughout delivery.

Illustrative use case
Have the procurement answers ready while the customer chooses the range.
A workwear distributor is proposing uniforms for a customer with multiple sites. While samples, colours and branding are being reviewed, the distributor uses Zilch to organise the proposed garments’ specifications, supplier documents and impact information.
The team identifies missing evidence, requests it from suppliers and prepares responses to the buyer’s questionnaire. Once the range is agreed, they can provide the supporting information without starting another round of document chasing.

FAQ
Questions workwear suppliers ask
Most of our delays are around samples and designs. How does Zilch help?
Zilch helps you prepare the procurement information alongside that process. It reduces the document gathering and repeated questions that can otherwise add another delay once the range is agreed.
Our manufacturers already provide certificates. What does Zilch add?
Zilch brings those documents together with garment specifications and your business information. Your team can find and reuse the evidence when responding to tenders, questionnaires and customer requests.
We’re too small to report under the Modern Slavery Act. Is this relevant?
Larger buyers may still ask about your suppliers and sourcing practices to support their own obligations. Zilch helps you organise the information needed to answer those requests.
Can Zilch confirm that our workwear meets safety standards?
Zilch helps manage the specifications, certificates and test reports supporting a garment’s stated compliance. Testing and assessment still need to cover the actual product and its intended use.
Can we compare standard and recycled-content uniforms?
Yes. Compare suitable options using product footprints, material information and documented credentials. This helps customers assess environmental differences alongside price, comfort, durability and performance.
