- The customer
- A promo supplier importing novelty toys for distributors who sell into schools, councils and corporate family days.

- Schools, councils, corporate events
The situation
The supplier imports squishies and other novelty toys from an overseas factory. Its distributors sell them into schools, councils and corporate family days, where the end user is often a child.
Another business selling similar products got into trouble. It hadn’t checked the product’s safety instructions, children microwaved the toys, and some were burned.
The supplier asked Zilch to check what it held for the SKU before the product went out.
What was at stake
A recall, a regulator conversation and the distributor’s blue-chip client.
What Zilch did
Zilch checked what the supplier held for the SKU against what a school or council buyer would expect. Two documents were missing, so Zilch flagged them and sent a request to the overseas factory.
Requested from suppliers
- Test reports from the overseas factory
Flagged as missing
- Test reports for the SKU
- Age grading for the SKU
Outcome
The supplier knew exactly which documents it lacked, and had already asked the factory for them, while the product was still in its hands.
Gaps found before the product shipped, not after.
